WL (Bill) Collard (S55-58) spotted an “Agar” artucle in a recent “Britain at War” magazine and sent it to James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) who writes “A couple of marine experts saw a CMB9 on the River Thames at Henley-on-Thames in 2015 and got the idea to reconstruct the CMB4 in which Augustus Agar torpedoed the Russian cruiser Oleg at Kronstadt in 1919 for which he was awarded in secret the Victoria Cross as the Mission was classified.”
Porstmouth Naval Base Property Reconstruction have over 7 years created a faithful reconstrution of CMB4 (the original is at the back of a hangar in IWM Duxford). The replica was launched at Portsmouth on 7 September 2023 in the presence of nephew Rodney Agar and it is now on display at the Historic Dockyard.
