Charity Bike Ride for Mencap – September 2005

On 22nd September 2005 I will be joining 60 of my collegues from across the UK to take part in Reims to Paris bike ride to raise £100,000 for Mencap. Over three days, I will be cycling a total of 200 miles across varied terrain from Reims to Paris. I’ve started my training programme and having spent a few weekends ‘at the handlebars’, have discovered that this really is going to be a challenge!

With the support of EDF Energy this year, Mencap is developing an innovative new project called Energise to tackle the issue that people with a learning disability suffer from more health problems than others, not just because of their disability but due a range of factors including communication barriers. Energise will help improve the health and fitness of people with a learning disability by supporting them to take charge of their individual health, diet and fitness needs.

In order to secure my place on the EDF Energy Team, and to support Mencap, I have pledged to raise £1,200. In fact, I’m hoping to smash this target! Can you help? You can make a donation on Line by visiting the Just Giving charity donations website: www.justgiving.com/pearsonica. Thank you for your generosity.

Kind regards

Ian C. Pearson
