Spectators needed for aspiring Halford Hewitt team on 8th April

The Halford Hewitt represents the pinnacle of inter-school alumni golf, and has been going since the mid-1920s – see www.halfordhewitt.org for more information. It is some time since the OF team has got beyond the first round – in 2007 we went down 1-4 to Sherborne, and in 2008 we went down by the same margin against Glenalmond. In 2009, after losing to Highgate 1 ½ – 3 ½, we had an excellent run in the Plate, beating Westminster 2/1, Bishops Stortford 2 ½ – ½, before losing to Liverpool 0/3 in the quarter final.

 

David Turnbull, OFGS Hon Sec, reports, "This year we have been drawn against Dulwich in the first round on Thursday, 8^th April at 11.30am at Royal St George’s Golf Club, Sandwich. This could be a very difficult match as Dulwich are some 49 places above us in the ranking order. A win for us would mean that we might have to play against Tonbridge, the holders, in the second round – a very tough draw!”
