Just like any leader worth his political salt, Comrade Mehta is ambitious, and like all men of vision and planning he expresses that ambition with empire building. As readers of these reports will know the OFRC had something of a flat year following three years of sweeping all opposition before them like Panzer divisions on Russian Steppes.
The Esteemed Master Tactician’s response to this was, understandably, to invite more teams to join in our jolly little tri-annual get together. Well, one more anyway.
The Commissar Hon Sec would be quite entitled to make this decision. Since, under his glorious stewardship, he has overseen the creation of a near unbeatable rifle team and a competition which has grown steadily from a few handfuls of shooters to a strong and steadily-growing tournament which attracts more and more participation.

However, like most men of brilliance and steel, such normal activities like research are deemed unnecessary. As such it went undiscovered that the Bedfordians, contained two fearsomely good GB shooters – Suffolk’s ubershooter Robin Hatcher and the ridiculously talented Palma shot Andy "Turbo" Barnes.
And so it came to pass that the Fram A team is beaten into second place in both the season’s opening Q match and the subsequent Long Range challenge by said Bedfordians.
Still, we are a sporting bunch even if Chairman Burnip and Comrades "Beria" Mehta and "Zhukov" Halahan were demanding immediate deportation to the notoriously brutal salt mine on the outskirts of Bedford.
GREAT LEADER
Forensic examination of the results show that Bedfordians did in fact shoot very well – notably Turbo who fired an astonishing 100.14 out of a possible 100.20 at 900 and 1000 yards. Naturally this will be redacted from the official record once Great Leader Halahan has been at them. It also shows that many OFs have not been on top form.

The Great Leader has real problems with team selection. In the end the B team comes a single point behind second placed Fram A. 600-yard possibles from David "Nurburgring" Argent and (for the first time ever in a 40-year career) Nigel "Mauser" King leaves the B team well boosted.
Top A team performances form Andrew "Slimfast" Horton and Tom "Ensign" Chapman were combined with unusually disappointing shoots from Andy "Mr Reliable" Gemmill and Marshal Zhukov himself. Not so unusual disappointments from Comrade Mehta and Steve "Kit Monitor" McDowell were also in evidence.
STORMING
A welcome and encouraging debut was recorded by Ally "YesMiss" Ravenhill and a first showing from Chas "VeneersRus" Lister.
SPECIAL AWARD: Nigel King – with a face like the Milky Bar kid on a sugar rush – scoring his first ever full-bore possible.
HIGHLY COMMENDED: Neil "Father of the House" Joy, who’s storming 49.6 could easily have been a long-awaiting maximum.
