We lost the match 4 ½ – ½, but most of the individual matches were close and, at one stage, it looked possible that we might pull off an unlikely win. Gavin and John gained a half against two 2 handicappers. There were other 2 handicappers in their team whose highest handicap was 5.
Next year, on Thursday, 11th April – make a note of the date – we might stand a chance of progressing beyond the first round if we can put out our strongest team.
The following day we played in the Princes Plate against Sherborne, losing 3-0.
The weather was perfect for the third year in succession with blue skies and a light wind. The team was supported by Andrew Wright, Barry Lorkin and David Turnbull who were joined by Mike Schneidau and Andy Towler, our injured players.
The team stayed in the Pegwell Bay Hotel and thanks are due once again to Andy for making all the arrangements.
