Laura Wright (M 02-08) finds herself in the regional and national press quite often, with coverage of her developing musical career and the various charitable initiatives that she’s developed alongside this. It’s been some time, perhaps as a result of that coverage elsewhere, since the Old Framlinghamian website carried a news item about her – but her latest appointment, as Official Anthem Singer for the England rugby squad is surely worth a mention.
The Rugby Football Union announced, on 21st November, that Laura was to be their first-ever official anthem singer. This was prompted, in part, by their observation that Laura has performed for the Queen more times than any other artist in 2012, and has shown, at both Wembley Stadium and Twickenham, that she can hold a crowd of 80,000 sports fans in the palm of her hand.
You can click to see the East Anglian Daily Times article about Laura’s appointment, and there’s a good interview report, presently available by clicking here, in a recent issue of London’s Metro newspaper.
