Stewart Birt dies within 2 years of brother John

Stewart Birt (S56-61) died on 1 January 2018 at the age of 75 after suffering for some months with both heart and cardiovascular ailments and finally with emphysema. He was the brother of Andrew Birt (S55-58) and John Birt (S59-63).  He leaves a partner Julie and daughter Tara.  His funeral is to be held on Monday, 15th January at the Holy Trinity Church, Gidleigh, Devon TQ13 8HR at 2pm.

He is pictured here in the middle at the memorial service for brother John at Sandhurst in September 2016.

Colin Micklewright (S55-59) and Chris Essex (K69-75) were able to attend the thanksgiving service in deepest Dartmoor and this link contains the front and back of the order of service and some pictures taken on the day.  Colin was greeted by Stewart's sister Chrissie as "Titch" which he'd not heard used for 60 years! The piper was from 19th Regiment Royal Artillery (The Scottish Gunners) with whom Stewart and his late son James served.
