James Ruddock Broyd has spotted that BBC4 recently repeated the TV programme about the mystery of why Group Captain Percy Pickard DSO ** DFC (G26-32) was killed on 18 February 1944 on a daring mission to bomb the walls of Amiens Prison to set free members of the French Resistance who had been imprisoned there by the Germans. There remains mystery over who initiated the raid; precisely why it was promoted; and what exactly it achieved!
