Ken Mayhew: A Service of Thanksgiving at The College

ORIGINAL ITEM UPDATED : Many overseas visitors, from both Holland and France were expected to attend. Ken’s family have recently been alerted to difficulties, imposed by current Dutch and British Covid regulations, which would have required many of them to quarantine both coming and going back home. With some inevitable reluctance, the family have now decided to postpone the service until 11am on Saturday, 5th March, 2022. The service will be held in the College Chapel, and refreshments will be offered after the service.

There is no immediate need to register your interest in attending this rescheduled service, but please look out for further communications nearer that day.

ORIGINAL ITEM : A great many people and organisations, in the Netherlands and the UK, have been in touch with Ken’s family, the College and the SOF, since hearing of his death and reading the obituaries published here, and then in The Times and The Daily Telegraph. It is therefore with pride and delight that we can announce that a Service of Thanksgiving for Ken’s life will be held in the Chapel at Framlingham College, at 11:00am on Saturday 16th October 2021. Old Framlinghamians will be welcome to attend, joining Ken’s family, representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands, the Royal Military William Order, the Royal Anglian regiment and, of course, the Principal and other representatives of the College.

If you would like to attend, please would you send an email to Kate Jackson, OF Co-ordinator, so that the College team can estimate the overall total of guests to be accommodated.

Please note that the date has been chosen to coincide with The Suffolk Supper, which will be preceded by a meeting of the Society’s Council, so why not make a day and evening of it? Full details of the Supper, and making bookings for it, will be published in due course.
