OF Society

Welcome to the OF Society pages, which we hope will provide you with everything you want to know about what we try to do, how we’re run, our Honorary Members, and how you can provide financial support to the Society and its associated Charity

Overview

The Society of Old Framlinghamians, as we know it today, was founded in 1900, and still has its founders’ objectives at its core: to promote the interests of the School in every possible way; to help past members of the School to keep in touch with one another; and to find ways to promote engagement between past and present members of the School.

It’s interesting that our founders talked about “members of the School”, rather than members of the Society, which reflects that our society is much broader than a simple alumni organisation. One way or another, the Society has made sure to open its membership to members of staff, either as associate members or as Honorary Members to recognise long service to the College. I. Promotion Of The Interests Of The College

Our support for the School takes many forms: raising money through appeals; encouraging gifts and deploying bequests; and using its investment income to support prizes and scholarships. Major examples include the gift of Brandeston Hall as a living memorial to the College’s war dead in two World Wars; £220,000 in direct support for the development of the 6th Form Centre together with a major campaign amongst our wider membership; and the funding of The Fowler Pavilion through a major bequest. II. Maintenance Of Contact Between Members

Our efforts to help people to keep in touch with each other also takes many forms, including this website, annual and occasional publications, and our financial and other support for our specialist sports and vocational groups – for Golf, Shooting and The Arts, all of which have dedicated pages on this website.

III. Encouragement of Contact Between Past and Present Members of The College

One of the ways in which we seek to promote engagement between past and present members of the School is through our Moreau Leaving Scholarships, which has its own section under the “About us” menu. We also fund a wide range of prizes and awards for presentation each Speech Day. If you’d like to read more about this, please click on the link in the Speech Day Prizes box to the right.
