Air Vice-Marshal Simon Robert Charles Dougherty MBE (Garrett 1960-1967)
Promoted to Air Vice-Marshal on appointment as Director-General of Medical Services (Royal Air Force) in September 2004. He served as an Honorary Physician to Her Majesty the Queen from 2002 to 2009. From 2009 to 2019, he was Honorary Air Commodore of No 4626 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force. He was appointed Officer Brother of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in 1991. He was awarded an MBE (Civilian) in 2020 in recognition of his voluntary service with the RAF Benevolent Fund. He has served as a Trustee of the Headley Court Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and as a Governor of Royal Star and Garter Charity.
He was a Governor of Framlingham College from 2008-2022 and was President of the Society of Old Framlinghamians from 2011-2013 and again from 2019-2021.
