Captain Bernard Oliver Tickner MBE (1937-1940)
Was Chief Brewer at Greene King and introduced Abbot Ale. His other great passion was horticulture. At his home, Fullers Mill, he developed a wonderful garden, which is open to the public and he donated Lackford Lake to the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. He also bred a unique species of Euphorbia called ‘Red Wing’. In June 2017 he was awarded the MBE for services to Horticulture and to Wildlife Conservation in Suffolk.
