His Honour Judge Charles George Ward (1875-1881)

Born in 1864, he became a barrister in 1890. For many years he was an advocate in the Transvaal, Orange River and Rhodesia, as well as Kimberley, Bulawayo and Johannesburg. He was appointed KC in 1906. He was Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court in Transvaal in 1910 and was a member of the Commission of Enquiry into the Transvaal Mine Riots of 1912. He was then Chairman of the Board of Arbitration for the Rhodesian Railway from 1918 until his early death aged 58 on 26 March 1923.
