Lloyd Upsdell (Rendlesham 1996-1999)

He was born in 1983 in Wales and has cerebral palsy.  After attending the College he became a successful full time athlete and competed in European, World and Olympic events.  His record was as follows :

Paralympics: Sydney 2000: gold (100 and 200m), Athens 2004: bronze (200m)

World Championships: Birmingham 1998: gold (100 and 200m), Lille 2002: gold (100 and 200m)

European Championships: Assen 2003: silver (200m), Espoo 2005: gold (2005)

He also held World record in 200m and was European 100m record holder.

He retired from full time athletic in May 2007 and since May 2012 he has been a healthcare assistant at Mid-Essex Hospital.

 

He is also skilled in Coaching, Event Management and Public Speaking.
