Lt Col Alan Charles Newson DSO, DSC (Stradbroke 1920-1928)
During WW2 served in Naval Air Arm and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross on 15 September 1942 “For bravery and devotion to duty in air operations in the Western Desert.” This was followed on 6 July 1943 with the Distinguished Service Order “For bravery in skilful and determined attacks on enemy shipping in the Mediterranean, made from light coastal craft and from the air.” Past President of SOF.
