Mr John Stenton Hoyland DFM (Stradbroke 1938-1942)

He was a wholesale grocer and provision merchant in Ipswich. During WW2 he joined the RAF and served in 578 Squadron of Bomber Command. He was awarded the DFM while serving with 51 Squadron, on 17 November 1944 “In recognition of gallantry and devotion to duty in the execution of air operations.” After the war he became a representative of Caterers Buying Association.
