Mr Paul Griffin MBE, MA(Cantab) (Garrett 1935-1940)
He was head prefect at the College at the time of the evacuation to Repton. He went into teaching and held a number of posts both here in the UK and as Principal of the English School in Nicosia, Cyprus. His time in Cyprus coincided with the worst of the terrorist campaign and he was awarded the MBE for services to Cyprus education in 1961. He also won numerous awards for his potery and writing, including the Seatonian Prize for Religious Poetry in 2001, 2007 and lastly in 2010 at the age of 88.
