Sir George Sampson Elliston KGStJ MC MA DL JP (1890-1892)
Became a barrister and had a distinguished career in WW1, winning the Military Cross in 1918. Went on to become Chief Commoner in the City of London and Conservative MP for Blackburn fro 15 years. He was also first OF to be Chairman of the Governors at the College from 1946 to 1949.
