David Mason (S55-59)

UPDATE : The funeral took place at Croydon Crematorium on Monday 6 June and was attended by around 160 including 18 OFs and many of their partners.   A tribute was given to David by his son Simon and a poem was read by his other son James.  Psalm 23 was read by his brother Richard.   OFs known to have been present were – Richard Mason (brother), Chris Essex (President), Norman Porter (Hon Sec), Bill Collard, John Ellerby, Jon Ford, Peter Golding, Michael Holden, Chris Keeble, Barry Lorkin, Paul Mason, Tim Mitchell, Andrew Moore, John Rankin, James Ruddock-Broyd, Brian Smith, Clive Smith, Michael Smy and John Waugh.  Given David’s 30 year service as an SOF Trustee it was fitting that all 4 current trustees were present.  Amongst the apologies were  – Jim Blythe, Simon Dougherty, John Edwards, Ian Howard, Richard Sayer, Paul Taylor and Andrew Wright.  Here is the front cover of the Order of Service.

ORIGINAL : It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Mason (S55-59).  He passed away on the morning of 13th May 2016 at home in Wallington, Surrey. As many of you will know, David had been ill for some time, and had been in hospital, as well as receiving ongoing treatment. He was a Trustee of the Society for many years, many of those years as conscientious Chairman and custodian of the Society's funds. He was also a recent Past President. Being elected to this position meant a great deal to him – as did the recent award of the BEM for services to Charity. The Society and the College owe him a great deal and we salute his memory, while offering our most sincere condolences to his wife Anne, and family.
