Former Moreau Scholar is Doing a Charity Skydive

Ted Harrington (S 2005-10), and a former SOF Moreau Scholars, reports:

On Sunday, 5th August, for the very first time, Ted and media:cpm team will be taking part in a skydive to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, in doing so taking their bravery to new heights (literally) as they jump from 10,000 feet! Ted mentioned that they “are all doing it for a number of reasons, but above all else because we all know someone that has been directly affected by this awful disease and, despite us all being terrified, believe they are an incredible cause.”

“Although we have set a fairly ambitious target, we feel it is achievable and we make such a huge difference to people’s lives.”

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. Every pound raised is vital to improving the lives of people with dementia and pushing to find a cure. Here are some examples of how your donations could be used:

• £1,000 could pay for an experienced Dementia Support Worker to support a family affected by dementia, for an hour a week, for an entire year. 

• £3,300 could pay for brain scanning equipment to detect changes in the brain caused by Alzheimer’s Disease, in the hope of finding an affordable, non-invasive test to diagnose the condition.

When asked about donations Ted had the following comments: “The initial response has been incredible and we are so grateful to be at the 20% mark already – the fact that a number of people linked to the College have also donated already means a lot as well. But, of course, there is still a long way to go to reach our £4,000 for this incredible charity.”
