Society of Old Framlinghamians Annual Dinner – 28 March 2015 at Pembroke College, Cambridge

Simon Dougherty writes: This year we will be holding the Society of Old Framlinghamians Annual Dinner on Saturday 28 March 2015 at Pembroke College, Cambridge in recognition of Framlingham College’s sesquicentenary celebrations. As many will know, the land on which Framlingham College was built was donated by Pembroke College.

Members of the Society together with their partners and guests, are invited to apply for places at this prestigious event. Priority booking will be available only until 10 January 2015. Requests for seats received after that date are unlikely to be successful. However, cancellations without financial penalty will be possible until 13 March 2015, and early booking is encouraged.

A drinks reception will take place from 7 o’clock, with diners taking their places at 7.30pm. Brief speeches will be made prior to diners being served a 3 course dinner, with wine. A vegetarian option will be available. Dress is black tie or equivalent. Tickets will cost £50 per head which is excellent value-for-money for such a significant event. The tables will be seat up to 50 diners and reservation of a table for smaller groups will not be possible. Nonetheless, every effort will be made to seat diners close to colleagues and friends – just fill in the as appropriate.

No overnight accommodation is available at Pembroke College and individuals are advised to make their own arrangements. Accommodation may be available through the University Rooms Scheme. Further, TripAdvisor lists 30 hotels close to
Pembroke College: Tripadvisor. In addition, a coach from Framlingham College to Pembroke College and return may be provided if there is sufficient demand. The cost will be £10 per person. For those travelling by car, public car parking is available at the Grand Arcade Car Park, Corn Exchange Street, Cambridge CB2 3QF. – a short walk from Pembroke College.

In 2015, the Society’s Annual General Meeting will not be held in conjunction with the Annual Dinner.
