OF publishes new book to mark 80th anniversary of VJ Day

Mike Garnett OAM (53-55) has written a number of books on Real Tennis as well as 3 booklets on local militia to where he now lives in Australia.  However to mark 80th anniversary of VJ Day on 15 August 2025 he has written a book on the Japanese surrender “Japan’s Final Surrender“.  There will be many currently at the College, as well as OFs, who had parents, grandparents or great grandparents who suffered under the Japanese in Singapore, following incarceration at Changi, and subsequently on the Thai/Burma railways, Sandakan etc.

Quite a number of the OFs commemorated on the WW2 Memorial in the College Chapel died in Singapore and across the Far East – read the recently researched biographies by clicking here.

Click here for a book review carried out by a prominent member of the Royal United Services Institute (Australia).

Mike has kindly sent me a copy which when I have read it will be donated for safe keeping to the College Library. It is not at present available to buy on-line as Mike has done a limited print run.
