Archie Winter

I joined Framlingham’s prep school in year 7 with a strong passion for all sports and settled in quickly. Moving on to the College, I joined Stradbroke house in September 2013 and have enjoyed my five years in the House immensely. It will be hard to leave the House environment, but I look forward to staying in contact and seeing what my year get up to. I’ve had the honour of being Head Boy for my last year at the college, a role which has a large amount of responsibility. I enjoyed every aspect of it and was lucky enough to be a part of a great prefect team. I chose to study Business, PE and Geography at A-level and soon found Business, which I had not studied before, to be a new passion for me. I have chosen to study International Business at Exeter University if my results allow, with the aspiration to have a career in London after university.

Throughout my time at the College I have mainly been found on the sports fields. I have been lucky enough to Captain 1st XI Hockey and be a part of 2nd XI Cricket, both of which have been highlights for me. Out of school, I’ve played for the England under 18 hockey team for the past two seasons, and should take part in the Europeans in Santander this summer if all goes well. This has put a slight strain on my time in the sixth form, through having to balance my out of school Hockey commitments and the work required for A-levels, but I’ve managed to stay organised and hopefully done myself justice in all this summer’s exams. When not playing hockey, this summer, I’ll be on the golf course trying to improve my game and get my handicap down from 4. I’ve represented the school, on the golf course, in every one of my five years, and hope to play for the OFs in the Halford Hewitt next year.

I am extremely excited, but also a little reluctant, to be leaving the college after seven of the best years. I like to think I have made the most of the opportunities that all the staff, school and my parents have provided me with. I have managed to make friendships, not only in my year group but with staff and OFs, all of which I look forward to continuing. I look forward to taking up my role as a Moreau scholar alongside Coral, and to organising our first event together, which we plan to be a mixed hockey game.
