This year we had a better turn-out of twenty four members. One of these was Julian Benning, a new young member of the OFGS, who had a very promising first outing, playing the back nine in one over par. Once again we had several of the Halford Hewitt team playing, and three of them scored an excellent 41 points. Gavin Cowell won the Captain’s Prize, with Jonny Newton, the Captain, taking second place in Division 1 after a count-back. The third member of the 41 Club, Richard Graves, won the Scratch Cup, for the third year running, with an excellent gross score of 36 points. Division 2 was won, for the third year running, by local member, Peter Howard-Dobson, with a score of 38 points. Local knowledge is obviously a great help and his handicap must surely come down soon!
In the afternoon James Blyth and Vernon Brown, both new to Royal Worlington, won the foursomes with an excellent score of 21 points, from Colin Bates and Chris Milner-Moore, who scored 20 points.
