OFGS Spring Golf Meeting 2024

Spring Meeting of OFGS on Friday, 10th May 2024

The Warren Golf Club was the venue this year for our Spring Meeting with 17 members attending.

It was good to welcome two new members, Nigel Merriam and Nick Bailey and one returning one, Jeremy Kemp. Sadly, David Turnbull, our secretary, was unable to play due to back problems, but conducted our AGM with captain James Blyth after prize-giving.

We were blessed with a perfect warm sunny day so could sit outside to enjoy a good lunch of lasagne followed by apple crumble.

On a course in fairly good condition after our wet spring, but with several hilly demanding holes, most scores were in the twenties, but with some notable prize-winning ones.

The Captain’s Cup and Prize was won by Hugh Curle with 35 points, leaving The Minter Cup for best scratch stableford score of 26 points to be won again by Jonny Newton.

James Brocks with 34 points came second in Division 1 and Division 2 was won by Nigel Merriam on count back from Chris Milner- Moore, both on 25 points.

After lunch 8 pairings played a four-ball better ball over 10 holes with three teams scoring an excellent 23 points, but being outdone by Jeremy Kemp and James Brocks on 24 points.

As with all OF golf meetings it was very sociable and all appeared to thoroughly enjoy meeting up.
