But it is to no avail – with McDowell experiencing a complete disaster despite the careful wisdom of David Argent and the HonSec once again failing to master his latest expensive accessory.
Ensign Chapman is again reliable and the skipper rediscovers some form, while Horton Junior fires himself into medal winning position with two solid 48s. John "Dartford Tunnel" Horton proves there is indeed some fight left in old dogs as he slots home an effortless 48.3 at the ever-tricky 1000 yards.

We all await June 6th and the Battle of All Day when the team will have to chance to redeem themselves and indeed avert a substantial spell in custody in the Framlingham Gulag Number 3 (just behind the Day Boys’ bogs, if I remember correctly).
N.B. So large have our events now become that it has become necessary to acquire a range officer and that post was filled by the kindness of John Miller – the thanks of the OFRC go to him.
